Chapter 6
Developing Personal Learning Networks
by Katrina Strauss

A New Learning Environment

The learning environments for educators and learners will not be just face to face interactions anymore. The sharing of ideas and resources can come from anyone around the world. Educators will be connected through the different types of networking sites. It is important for teachers to learn how to network if they want to model the lifelong learning skills that their students need. People from anywhere can join the network and educators can work together on a global scale to improve the education of their students. Educators will need to be connected to other educators in their community, nationally, and globally to ensure they are keeping up with the latest in education. The video on the right summarizes the tools that can used for networking.

The sections below give more details on how an educator can develop their own personal learning network.
